How do we test moisture in cannabis?
Moisture determination is used to determine the water concentration in a hemp sample. The moisture content of hemp refers to the percentage of the total weight of the sample that consists of water. Water concentration, or “moisture content,” is a crucial indicator of the potential presence of microbiological contaminants such as fungi, bacteria, and insects.
Following best practices during processing and storage, as well as controlling moisture content during the drying process, are crucial to ensuring the safety and eaicacy of the product. Flowery Field employs a reliable method for moisture analysis using “loss on drying” to accurately determine the moisture content of hemp. A hemp flower moisture test provides a quick and reliable means of determining water content. Multiple measurements are taken on the dried hemp flowers to determine the water concentration.
Sampling
Due to potential variations within each plant, homogenization of the sample is essential to achieve reliable results. Therefore, a minimum quantity of 4-5 grams of plant material (up to a maximum of 10 grams). The sampling material should be collected from the entire plant.
